Knowledge of Indian society is useful to a certain extent for a manager. A manager should be aware of the diverse cultures available in India. If the manager keeps that into account, he should be able to do well, as the people managers interact with come from different backgrounds.
social awareness is crucial for anyone, manager or not. it becomes important to a manager at various levels within the company. however, the course material taught in universities should be updated constantly and kept to necessary topics.
